Programs & Events
DID YOU KNOW . . . . there are over 250,000 school-age children in Maine. If current trends prevail, between 20-25% will develop a substance use disorder and continue or worsen the destructive impacts experienced from SUD within families and communities. For every person struggling with addiction, 5 others are negatively impacted.
Hence, SEED’s focus on strong partnerships with Maine schools.
- To date, SEED has participated in and supported over 20 SUD Day presentations, in 13 of Maine’s 16 counties. Our goal is to expand these programs to middle/high schools in each Maine county by year-end 2024. Interested?? Please let us know!!
- Each SUD Day presentation has typically ended with “what’s next?” The participating schools have indicated that they would love to have some continuing educational opportunities for their students, so SEED has piloted an enhanced health curriculum at Scarborough High School.
